Document confidential work on a resume

Document confidential or restricted work at a safe abstraction level while preserving truthful scope, contribution, and outcome.

Treat disclosure permission as a design constraint, not an inconvenience.

When to use

  • Use for client, government, security, medical, legal, financial, research, or unreleased work.
  • Do not reveal protected names, data, architecture, vulnerabilities, contracts, timelines, identities, or classified facts.

Procedure

  1. Identify governing agreements, classification, employer policy, legal duties, client permission, and review authority.
  2. Inventory what is public, approved, aggregatable, generalizable, and prohibited.
  3. Define the target capability the experience needs to prove.
  4. Replace protected identities with truthful categories and sensitive scale with approved ranges or qualitative scope.
  5. Describe the candidate's decision, method, constraint, and outcome without enabling reconstruction.
  6. Avoid combining individually safe facts that become identifying together.
  7. Keep a private source record linking each abstracted claim to evidence and permission.
  8. Obtain authorized review where the boundary is uncertain.
  9. Check interviews, portfolio links, references, and profiles against the same disclosure rules.
