Write a production safety brief

Write a production safety brief with task hazards, controls, roles, welfare, emergency actions, and stop authority.

Translate the qualified risk assessment into clear crew actions without replacing specialist authority.

Procedure

  1. Confirm location, schedule, tasks, crew, participants, public, equipment, and authorized safety owner.
  2. Identify weather, traffic, height, water, power, rigging, vehicles, crowd, fatigue, health, and security hazards.
  3. Record elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative, and protective controls.
  4. Assign competent leads for specialist work and define exclusion zones.
  5. Include access, disability, medication privacy, hydration, rest, transport, and welfare.
  6. Document emergency contacts, communications, muster, first aid, evacuation, and nearest appropriate help.
  7. State individual stop-work authority, escalation, dynamic reassessment, and restart approval.
  8. Brief the crew in accessible language and record attendance and questions.
  9. Update for changed conditions and retain the final safety record.

Guardrails

  • This brief does not replace qualified risk assessment or legal duty.
  • Never ask crew to accept uncontrolled danger for a shot.
  • Do not disclose private medical details beyond authorized need.
