Research an interviewer

Research an interviewer from relevant public professional sources without inferring private traits or manipulating rapport.

When to use

  • Use after an interview is scheduled and identity is verified.
  • Do not seek private accounts, protected traits, family details, or leverage.

Procedure

  1. Confirm name, role, organization, and interview context.
  2. Review official biography, public work, talks, writing, and role-relevant projects.
  3. Separate verified facts from namesake ambiguity and stale information.
  4. Extract likely domain context, not assumed opinions or evaluation power.
  5. Prepare questions about work, team, decisions, and success.
  6. Record sources and delete irrelevant personal notes.

Failure plan

  • If identity is ambiguous, research the team or role instead.

Worked example

A candidate uses an interviewer’s public engineering talk to ask about incident learning, not to pretend personal familiarity.
