Create a study guide
Create a source-linked study guide organized around learning objectives, connections, retrieval prompts, and verified examples.
Design the guide to require recall and explanation, not repeated rereading.
When to use
- Use after collecting approved notes, readings, assignments, feedback, and course objectives.
- Do not include leaked assessments, unauthorized answer keys, or restricted student work.
Procedure
- Record assessment scope, format, date, permitted materials, learning objectives, and authoritative course sources.
- Inventory topics and mark confidence, importance, dependencies, and known misconceptions.
- Organize content by concept and relationship rather than by the order files were received.
- For each objective, write a concise explanation, example, counterexample, diagram or formula, and source link.
- Create retrieval questions that require definitions, comparison, application, calculation, and transfer.
- Add worked problems with the reasoning hidden from the initial prompt.
- Verify facts, formulas, units, terminology, and example answers against approved sources.
- Test the guide closed-book, log errors, and schedule another retrieval round for weak topics.
- Keep corrections versioned so a polished layout cannot hide uncertain content.
Worked example
A biology guide initially contains copied slide bullets. The student reorganizes it around mechanisms, links each diagram to the assigned text, adds prediction questions, and attempts them without notes. A misconception about diffusion appears during retrieval and is corrected with a source citation.
