Build a freelance portfolio that proves relevant work, process, contribution, permission, and outcomes for a defined buyer.

Select work for the buyer's decision and disclose only what the owner permits.

When to use

  • Use for consulting, design, development, writing, media, research, or other client services.
  • Do not publish client names, data, contracts, internal screens, testimonials, or results without permission.

Procedure

  1. Define target buyer, service, problem, scope, budget range, and desired next action.
  2. Inventory completed, permissioned projects and record role, collaborators, constraints, process, output, and evidence.
  3. Select a small set that demonstrates the needed range and depth.
  4. Write each case with context, candidate decisions, deliverables, verified outcome, attribution, and limitations.
  5. Redact or reconstruct confidential details only with approval and label illustrative material.
  6. Obtain permission for names, logos, screenshots, quotations, and testimonials.
  7. Add accessible navigation, contact, service boundaries, availability, and working links.
  8. Test on mobile, assistive technology, slow connections, and common browsers.
  9. Publish the portfolio site, track inquiries without invasive analytics, and review stale evidence.
