Explain your niche to outsiders
Use with: blog-post. Resume line when done: Wrote and published an explainer for non-experts — live at {url}
Brief
The hobby your family does not get, explained so they finally do. Warhammer, fishkeeping, speedrunning, crochet patterns: whichever is yours, written for one specific confused relative instead of for the internet at large. You write it; the agent plays the confused reader and pushes on every piece of jargon. Done when the relative reads it and asks a follow-up question instead of changing the subject.
Personalize
- The niche. Yours, with years in it. You need the scars from learning it to explain it well.
- The one reader. Name the relative. Their specific confusions ("so it's gambling?", "why does it cost that much?") become your section headings.
- The entry point. Whatever hooked you is usually what will make sense to them first. Open with it.
Milestones
- A list of every question the relative has asked, plus the ones they were too polite to ask.
- Outline built from those questions.
- Full draft written by you, jargon translated or cut.
- Workshop pass: the agent reads as the relative and flags every spot it got lost; you fix those spots.
- Published at a public URL, then sent to the relative.
Done means
- Live at a public URL
- The relative read it and understood it, by their own account
- A newcomer could read it without looking anything up
- The writing and examples are yours
- The hobby's costs and time demands are stated honestly
