Write a press release

Write a factual press release around a defensible news event and useful source material.

Create a clear source document, not advertising disguised as reporting.

Procedure

  1. Confirm the news event, release status, public date, affected parties, approvals, and distribution plan.
  2. Define why the event matters now and to whom.
  3. Gather names, dates, locations, figures, claims, links, biographies, images, and supporting evidence.
  4. Write a specific headline and factual summary covering the essential who, what, when, where, and why.
  5. Put the most decision-relevant verified facts in the opening paragraphs.
  6. Add concise context and attributable quotes that reflect what approved speakers actually said.
  7. Include limitations, eligibility, availability, methodology, and conflicts when material.
  8. Add organization description, media contact, source links, assets, and clear publication or embargo timing.
  9. Fact-check each claim and obtain speaker, legal, brand, and subject-owner approval.
  10. Publish through the approved channel and preserve the final version and corrections.

Guardrails

  • Do not invent quotes, metrics, customers, endorsements, exclusivity, or market leadership.
  • Avoid sending a release when there is no public event or source value.
  • Keep private contact, customer, employee, and security information out of the public file.
  • State estimates and survey findings with source, date, sample, and limitations.
