Write a case study outline

Write a case-study outline that connects context, problem, constraints, method, evidence, outcome, limitations, and learning.

Build the outline from available evidence, not the desired marketing claim.

When to use

  • Use before interviews, drafting, approval, design, or publication.
  • Do not invent customer quotes, metrics, causality, or confidential details.

Procedure

  1. Define audience, decision, subject, permissions, confidentiality, and intended use.
  2. Gather sources for context, baseline, problem, constraints, intervention, timeline, outcome, and attribution.
  3. Write the central question and one evidence-supported thesis.
  4. Structure sections for situation, stakes, alternatives, method, implementation, results, limitations, and lessons.
  5. Assign each claim a source, owner, verification status, and required interview or artifact.
  6. Plan visuals, quotes, metrics, accessibility, anonymity, legal review, and approval.
  7. Identify gaps and stop unsupported sections from advancing.
