Working Job hunt skill

Manage multiple job offers

Manage overlapping job offers with verified terms, honest timelines, comparable scenarios, and respectful closure.

Keep each employer informed only about facts relevant to its decision.

When to use

  • Use when one offer arrives while other interviews, references, or offers remain active.
  • Do not invent offers, deadlines, or compensation details.

Procedure

  1. Record each role, current stage, written terms, contingencies, decision deadline, contact, and time zone.
  2. Ask each offer owner to clarify ambiguous terms and confirm deadline changes in writing.
  3. Inform active employers that a real decision deadline exists, state continued interest, and ask whether their process can conclude in time.
  4. Share only the amount of competing-offer information needed for a truthful request.
  5. Normalize compensation, schedule, location, scope, manager, growth, risk, start date, benefits, and personal constraints.
  6. Separate confirmed terms from expectations and verbal statements.
  7. Define decision criteria, weights, nonnegotiables, reversibility, and uncertainty before scoring.
  8. Negotiate packages independently, then compare updated written terms.
  9. Accept only when prepared to honor the commitment; promptly and politely close other processes.
  10. Preserve records of accepted terms, contingencies, background checks, and withdrawal confirmations.

Failure plan

  • If deadlines cannot align, decide from current evidence rather than accepting multiple incompatible commitments.
  • If an offer changes after acceptance, reassess the written change and applicable obligations before acting.
