Check video frame rate

Check source, sequence, shutter, playback, and delivery frame rates for intended motion and synchronization.

Separate capture rate, playback interpretation, timeline rate, and export rate.

When to use

  • Use before production, ingest, editing, slow motion, multicamera sync, or delivery.
  • Preserve originals before changing metadata or interpreting a clip.

Procedure

  1. Record required delivery frame rate, regional power frequency, motion style, slow-motion plan, audio-sync needs, and platform limits.
  2. Inspect each camera's nominal and actual rate, variable-frame-rate status, shutter, time base, audio sample rate, and metadata.
  3. Confirm the editing sequence and playback interpretation explicitly.
  4. Decide whether off-rate footage plays real time, conforms for slow motion, drops or repeats frames, or needs high-quality conversion.
  5. Test long clips for drift and motion cadence, not only the first seconds.
  6. Export a representative motion and lip-sync sample at the delivery rate.
  7. Document every conversion, interpolation, conformance, and exception.
