The babysitting page
Use with: build-website. Resume line when done: Ran a babysitting service with a booking page parents forward — references from {n} families
Brief
A page parents can forward to other parents: your availability this month, your rate, and short quotes from families you have sat for, used with their permission. Nothing goes on it that you could not back up if a parent called to check. New work comes from the families you already sit for passing the link along.
Personalize
- The references. The families you already sit for. Ask each for one line and written permission to use it with their first name.
- The rate. Ask the parents you sit for what the going rate is where you live, and charge that. Say if the rate changes after midnight or with more kids.
- What you say about yourself. Age, school year, and any course you have completed (first aid only if you hold the certificate). No home address, no daily schedule.
- The availability. True this month, and kept current. A page with stale availability wastes a parent's evening.
Milestones
- Page live on day one: rate, availability, contact your parents okayed.
- Quotes collected from at least two families, permission recorded.
- Page sent by mid-week to the families you sit for, asking them to forward it to one other family.
- Availability updated after every booking.
- First inquiry from a new family answered and logged.
- Final README: what parents asked before booking, and what on the page did the convincing.
Done means
- Live URL responding; readable on a phone
- Every quote has the family's recorded permission
- Honest-claims check passed: certificates and experience listed are ones you hold, the rate is what you charge
- No home address or school schedule anywhere on the page
- First new-family inquiry logged in SESSIONS.md, which has an entry per session
- Parents pay you directly, in person or by an app your parents okayed; the page never handles money
